20 For 20 – Bryony Williams

20 For 20 is a new feature where I look back at 20 of my favourite things that has happened in the music world in 2020.

It’s great when you see people you believe in get success & recognition. It’s even better when it happens to a personal friend. 2020 has been a great year for Bryony Williams.

It’s fair to say it’s not been the year Bryony expected when she played her farewell gig at Centrala back in January before heading off for a year or so to discover Asia and then Australia. I remember feeling very sad when we had our fairwell drink together at The Sunflower Lounge, wondering when, even if, I would see my friend again. And then Covid-19 happened and within a couple of months Bryony was back home in sunny Codsall.

Traveling dreams shattered she decided to become a rock star instead and signed with Beth Shalom Records which led to the release of her latest EP ‘State I’m In’ which came out at the end of October. Not just a digital release though, this was the real deal on vinyl with some of her previous tracks added to make an album! On top of that though the relationship with Beth Shalom Records has seen Bryony get some amazing press, not just from run of the mill sites like Indie Midlands, but some of the big guns. There has also been great radio play too. Something which has enabled her to grow her fanbase.

2020 may have not have been the great traveling year that Bryony envisaged, although at the time of writing she has currently been overseas for a couple of months…, but it has been a great year for her as an artist. And as her friend I couldn’t be more happier for her.

2021 is hopefully set to bring even better things for Bryony Williams, although it’s questionable whether anything will be able to top her March headline show for Indie Midlands at Dead Wax…
