The mighty Graywave (Jess Webberley) returns with her own brand of dark, edged shoegaze with the new single ‘Build’.
Following on from the success of her previous EP ‘Planetary Shift’ Jess has built upon the dynamic success that makes the unique Graywave sound so bold and shimmering. The track starts with an interesting glimmer of sound before the walloping drums take center stage and push the dynamic goodness of the single forward. The pitched roar of Graywave’s voice really shines during the chorus of the track. It would be hard to critique the track too hard as the sounds that are garnished into each corner of ‘Build’ each sound so fitting.
Inspired by Cocteau Twins, DIIV and Deftones, this interesting blend of influences really does allow the track to shine as such legendary groups can be heard throughout the single allowing for a grungy, ‘wall of sound’ to unfold.
‘Build’ is the first single to be released from the forthcoming EP ‘Rebirth’ and I would guarantee that you will be gripped by such musical works. I will be looking out for the release of the EP intently, and there is every good reason why you should too.
Build is out now via Church Road Records.
