Sydney trio Bloods have just released their ‘Seattle’ EP and one of the songs on the records is the brilliantly named ‘Girls Are Just Fucking Cool Like That’.
It’s a pop punk song that runs less than two minutes and reminds of bands like Charmpit and fellow Aussies Bad Sext. Fun, vibrant and with more than a hint of the 90’s about it, it’s the perfect power pop song for girls to rally behind.
Talking about the track vocalist Marihuzka Cornelius had the following to say –
“I wrote this song because I think women are so resilient and they don’t get enough credit for that resilience. It’s a song that celebrates our badass-ness. This is a song dedicated to women who get up every day and say ‘fuck you, I’ll do what I want’ despite societal pressures or institutional and subversive racism/ageism/sexism. Women who don’t see themselves represented and work in the face of that to chip through that concrete ceiling. This is a song for women who stretch beyond societies pre-conceptions of who they should be, where they fit or what role they should play. This is an anthem for intersectional feminism.”
