20 For 20 – Album Of The Year

20 For 20 is a new feature where I look back at 20 of my favourite things that has happened in the music world in 2020.

The final 20 For 20 feature is for my Album of the Year. As always there have been some great albums released in the last 12 months. Haiku Hands have been a long time favourite of mine so it was great to get their self-titled debut this year, whilst the albums released by Lupa J & El Tee, new acts to me in 2020, were also high up on my list. But there was only one album that was going to be my favourite once I’d heard it and that was Breakfast For Pathetics by Tired Lion which came out in November.

I was fortunate enough to get an advance of the album a couple of months before release for review purposes, you can read Jamie Summerfield’s review here, and as Tired Lion are my favourite band there is always that slight worry in case you don’t like the record. But my fears were allayed on first listen. It was amazing. It is amazing. Surpassing, in my opinion, 2017’s debut album ‘Dumb Days’. And I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve listened to it since September!

‘Breakfast For Pathetics’ would see three single releases. ‘Waterbed’, ‘Lie To Me’ and ‘~Cya Later~’, with ‘Lie To Me’ being one of my favourite songs of the year.

You can enjoy the videos to the three singles below as well as the full album beneath them. If you haven’t previously listened to Tired Lion then now is the time to put that right.

I also want to give a shoutout to the following for releasing some of my favourite albums of 2020 – Molchat Doma, Alex The Astronaut, Hachiku, Tenci & TOPS.
