Lo-fi bedroom-pop has become a bit of a cliché but the opening vocals to ‘Maybe I’m Bitter’ sound as if they were recorded at home. The slight reverb on the vocal gives the feel of a small room conjuring a sense of both solitude and stillness. The loosely played guitar adds to the vibe suggesting a delicate balance between euphoria and misery, hope and despair.
Babehoven explains the track as: “This song is about the emotional aftermath of a loss of home, a loss of trust, and a splintering of family. It is a personal attempt to encapsulate what dissociation feels like in my life.”
