The Clever References are back with a bang with their latest indie power pop-rock single ‘Will We Ever Meet Each Other Ever Again’.
Straight off the bat, one of the main stand out features is the wall of sound delivered by the distorted guitars and the sawing synth lines. The single marks a return for the band after the COVID 19 pandemic forced them into a period of musical-exile due to being separated.
Formed in Melbourne, TCR are a group that incorporate the finer attributes of guitar music along with synthesisers and melodic percussive lines. Speaking on the track’s conception, the band commented how they had blended aspects of 60s power pop with anthemic, rock production values. Its safe to assert that this has fully been achieved – with its own classic ‘indie’ twist – and even has fabricated a summery, fun feel. It really is a perfect track for the brighter days ahead, the return to a covid free life and the much loved summer time.
It’s great to see such a musically rich band get back in touch after any period of time and The Clever References are certainly not afraid of putting their mark on guitar-power-pop in the post covid era. ‘Will We Ever Meet Each Other Ever Again’ is out now.
