‘Window’ is the latest track off the forthcoming album ‘Marriage’ from dreamy-indie duo Wy.
‘Marriage’ will be the Malmo-based duo’s first record release since signing with fellow Swede’s Rama Lama Records.
A tune which possesses power in its vulnerability, ‘Window’ is a swirling, synth-laden track which places Ebba Gustafsson Ågren’s shimmering vocal front and centre of the performance.
Those synths never do more than gently reverberate in the background giving ‘Window’ a warming, musical sepia-toned glow. “What am I missing this time” is the repeated cry which frames the track’s messaging.
It’s lyricism like that which ensures sombre iconography attaches itself to the music as you start pulling up visions of a sullen Ebba staring out of a window, introspectively analysing all the mistakes she’s made. That elegant juxtaposition of strength through vulnerability echoes as loud as the synths.
‘Window’ follows on from the releases of singles ‘Dream House’, ‘Come Here’, and most recently, ‘That Picture Of Me’. This talented duo seem to be giving us a fuller picture of their new grand, yet intimate, soundscape.
While ‘Window’ is available to download now, we’ll have to wait until May to hear the album in full.
